Our Legal Service
Djirra’s Legal Service is available from 9 am – 5 pm Monday to Friday (AEST) and can provide you with free legal advice and representation, including court representation.
We also assist non-Aboriginal people experiencing family violence who are parents or carers of Aboriginal children.
We can provide you one-off legal advice or ongoing legal representation.
- One-off legal advice: allows you to think about options before doing anything further.
- Ongoing legal representation: we will open a file and work with you over a longer period, including representation in court (if necessary).
We can assist you with legal issues about:
- Intervention Orders
- Family Law (Parenting matters)
- Child Protection
- Victims of Crime Assistance
Our legal service can also help with non-legal support connected to a family violence situation such as complaints about Police, assistance with Centrelink or the Child Support Agency, and the Office of Housing.
We can also connect you with other Djirra services and programs such as counselling, individual case management, cultural and wellbeing workshops, and our Koori Women’s Place.
You are welcome to freecall Djirra’s Legal Team on 1800 105 303 (1800 DJIRRA) to talk about your legal matter. If we can’t assist you, we will refer you to another legal service who can.
