Sisters Day Out
Sisters Day Out® is a culturally safe workshop for Aboriginal women to come together for a day of connection, pampering, and wellbeing.
At Sisters Day Out, you’ll hear about Djirra’s programs and services, meet our legal and case workers, and connect with other community services who can support you and your family.
These events provide a safe place to understand your rights and legal options, and find out what local supports are available, along with an opportunity to yarn with Djirra lawyers and counsellors if needed.
You also have the opportunity to participate in cultural activities put on by Koori Women’s Place and a range of wellbeing activities.
Sisters Day Out is held regularly all over Victoria. Check out our Events calendar to see upcoming dates and locations.
Sister’s Day In
Djirra also hosts Sisters Day In. This is a specialised version of Sisters Day Out for our sisters who are incarcerated at the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre and Tarrengower Prison.
During the workshop Aboriginal women in prison support each other, get information about legal rights and options, and connect with other services who may be able to assist.
The workshop setup looks a little different but the principles remain the same: the program is strengths-based, culturally safe and provides holistic support.
