Family Violence Case Manager - Prison Support Portfolio

- We’re seeking a Case Manager to walk alongside Aboriginal women impacted by family violence and incarceration, providing culturally safe, trauma informed support to help break cycles of harm and build safer futures.
About the Role
The Individual Support Services team provides intensive Specialist Family Violence support to Aboriginal women who are experiencing or have experienced family violence and are at risk of further harm. The team’s interventions range from short-term crisis responses to longer-term intensive case-management. The team is also responsible for the provision of financial support to Djirra clients who fit the criteria via the Brokerage Program.
Case Managers provide support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and their children, who often present with multiple and complex needs, to achieve safety, stability, and resilience from family violence, and to heal from the trauma they experience. They provide client-centred, strength-based casework, utilising the Multi Agency Risk and Assessment Management Framework (MARAM) through a trauma- informed lens.
This Case Manager position also has responsibility for a prison support portfolio which involves providing case management services within the MARAM framework to Aboriginal women, and their children, who are in prison or have been released from prison. As well as working from the Abbotsford office, these positions will work at times from a base at Melton with time spent there gradually increasing. Outreach to Dame Phyllis Frost and Tarrengower prisons will also be required at times.
The Prison Support Program is designed to assist Aboriginal women who have experienced family violence and incarceration to break the cycle of violence and offending and to live safe lives, connected to culture and free from trauma.

About the Role
The Emergency Relief (ER) Coordinator leads Djirra’s Emergency Relief program, overseeing its operations, logistics and continuous improvement under the direction of the ISS Manager and in collaboration with Community Engagement Managers.
The role is responsible for coordinating culturally safe, trauma-informed support to Aboriginal women and children experiencing financial and material hardship, developing and managing a state-wide ER volunteer program, and building and maintaining effective relationships with Djirra staff, government representatives, suppliers, donors and external organisations.
The ER Coordinator also provides leadership, support and oversight to ER volunteers to ensure high quality, responsive and accountable service delivery.

About the Role
The Aboriginal Women’s Centre (AWC) Project Manager will play a key role in supporting Djirra’s campaign to realise its long-term vision of establishing the first Aboriginal Women’s Centre in Victoria.
Working closely with the Director, Strategy and Office of the CEO, the Senior Executive Team, (SET), and external consultants, the role will lead all AWC project activities for this initial phase, which focuses on building broad support for the project and progressing land acquisition. The Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating project scope, timelines, deliverables, and dependencies to ensure the project progresses in line with agreed objectives.
The role is responsible for developing and managing a robust project plan, stakeholder engagement matrix, and project governance arrangements; monitoring progress against milestones and budgets; identifying and managing project risks and issues; and preparing clear project updates and reports for internal governance and decision-making. The Project Manager will manage project partners, stakeholder relationships, and external consultants to ensure timely delivery of agreed outputs and strategic opportunities. The role will also ensure consistent communication with key stakeholders, support the development of project communications and collateral.

About the role
The Community Engagement Officer (CE Officer) will be a Djirra employee supporting the Manager and a Governance Group (GG) composed of Aboriginal Community Control Organisations (ACCOs) to implement the new Western Melbourne Justice Reinvestment project. The role will design, lead and facilitate participatory community engagement activities to ensure the project is informed by community voices and priorities. You will be based out of Djirra’s office in the West and work from other offices as needed.
- Develop and implement tailored community engagement strategies with diverse groups in the community to ensure representation of community voices and increase community understanding and buy-in for JR.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of community capacity building initiatives.
- Contribute to the design of partnership principles and protocols to guide community engagement in the West.

- Facilitate the development of communication products and resources for the community.

About the Role
Join the Aboriginal Family Violence Legal Service (AFVLS), a vital program of Djirra, where you'll play a key role in providing culturally safe, trauma-informed legal support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people impacted by family violence or sexual assault. Our team of dedicated lawyers and paralegals offers holistic, client-centered services in child protection, family violence intervention orders, family law, and victims of crime assistance.
The Aboriginal Family Violence Legal Service (AFVLS) is a program of Djirra. AFVLS provides legal and non-legal assistance and facilitates access to justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who have experienced family violence or sexual assault.
AFVLS operates a culturally safe, trauma informed, holistic and intensive client service model. Clients are assisted by Lawyers and Paralegal Support Workers to access a variety of legal, social, psychological, cultural, health and other support services to address their complex needs and issues.
Lawyers provide legal services including advice, representation, and advocacy in the areas of
- child protection
- family violence intervention orders
- family law; and
- victims of crime assistance.
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.

Requirements
Essential
- A Victorian Employees Working with Children's Check card or willing to obtain one
- Willing to obtain a Police Check at Djirra's expense
- Driver’s License
- Eligible to hold a legal practising certificate in Victoria
- A degree in law
- Lawyers who have had at least one year of practical experience in a community legal, family violence or justice related setting is desired but not essential.
