Sisters Day Out

Sisters Day Out is a one-day family violence prevention and wellbeing workshop held regularly in community across Victoria.

It’s a chance for Aboriginal women to come together, support each other, receive information about legal rights and options, and engage with both mainstream and Aboriginal support services in a culturally safe environment.

Women also have access to Djirra lawyers, family violence case workers, cultural activities put on by Koori Women’s Place and a range of wellbeing activities.

Sister’s Day In

Djirra also hosts Sisters Day In. This is a specialised version of Sisters Day Out for our sisters who are incarcerated at the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre or HM Prison Tarrengower.

During the workshop Aboriginal women in prison support each other, get information about legal rights and options, and connect with other services who may be able to assist.

The workshop looks a little different but the principles are the same: the program is strengths-based, culturally safe and provides holistic support.
