cultural training
Djirra’s cultural training packages are designed for the legal profession.
Grounded in Djirra’s unique position as an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation and specialist legal service, our Cultural Training packages will support legal professionals and institutions to engage more thoughtfully, ethically and effectively with Aboriginal women, children and communities.
Through storytelling and critical reflection, the training explores how laws, legislation and policy frameworks—past and present—have shaped Aboriginal women’s experiences of the justice system. It also examines why fear and distrust remain deeply embedded.
Participants will be challenged to understand how legal systems can undermine cultural safety, security and upbringing for Aboriginal children, and to consider their own role in disrupting harm and contributing to meaningful change.
These packages will be tailored for the legal profession and justice-related sectors seeking to strengthen cultural accountability, build trust, and support self-determination for Aboriginal women and their children.
